Ayen Mabor, I have over 20 years of experience in the counselling field. I am a registered Social Worker, with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I am also licensed in the province of Alberta and Ontario.

My approach to counselling is influenced by several theories primarily, Person Centered, solutions-focused, Strength-based approaches, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy. My life experiences led me to Social work, and through that, I discovered my love for counselling.

My sessions encompass exploring and getting to know clients, their needs, beliefs, values and goals (s) for counselling. Sessions are also based on utilizing therapeutic approaches to support individuals with self-determination. I look forward to connecting with you.

Being a Black refugee from South Sudan has provided me with a unique lens from which I view individuals and social systems. My clients describe me as non-judgmental, transparent, and caring.

In addition, I speak several languages, including Dinka, Bari, and Sudanese Arabic.
I have worked in various organizations in a variety of Social Work roles throughout the last 20 years, from supporting military families, working with patients in acute care dealing with life-changing illnesses, marital issues, separation and divorce, court preparation, substance use issues, anxiety and depression, trauma, grief and loss, men’s mental health and community resource work.

I specialize in working with those who have experienced oppression and trauma. I have a strong ability to foster rapport with these diverse populations and feel passionately about helping those who feel judged or discriminated against.
